AT&T Fiber Coming to The Neighborhood

We will be starting our project to bury fiber optic cables for AT&T in your community, starting sometime in early September.

We anticipate starting the week after the Labor Day holiday.

Your homeowners may see flags and markings from utility locators from 811 as early as next week.

I am attaching a list of frequently asked questions that homeowners often have.  Feel free to share it with your residents.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience so that I can answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Here are some FAQ’s for the upcoming AT&T project for your neighborhood:

1) This is a utility project to place high speed fiber optic cable in the neighborhood so that AT&T can provide ultra-high speed internet to your community.

2) The workers will be burying fiber optic cables and terminal boxes along the streets, in the right of way and utility easements which extend into the yards of the neighborhood. The terminal boxes will be flush with the ground, so, there will be no unsightly pedestal type terminals.

3) When the workers are on your street, it will look pretty hectic! However, our goal is to have your street looking back to normal by the end of each day. Usually, we are able to make that happen. We will make every effort to not leave open excavations overnight. In the rare event that we must, we will place barricades around the affected area for your protection.

4) We are proud of our safety record based on the hundreds of thousands of feet of buried cable we place each year. While 811 has done their best to locate underground utilities, accidents do happen. If you suspect the diggers have damaged a utility line to your home, you need to make a phone call to Mark Satterly at 502-693-5711. Star Construction will take responsibility for repairs caused by our activities. If you smell gas, call 911 immediately.

5) Invisible dog fences and irrigation systems are not located by 811. We make every effort to avoid damage to them and repair them on the spot, but as with any private property placed in the utility easement, it can happen. If you notice your dog fence control box chirping, contact Mark, and they will respond quickly to get it fixed.

6) If there is damage to your irrigation system, and our workers are aware of it, they will attempt to repair it on the spot. They stock materials for these repairs. If however, you notice issues after our crews have completed work in your yard, Please contact us to discuss repairs.

7) The buried cables will cross under your driveways and streets. Please note the condition of your driveway before we work in your area. If you suspect that our work has damaged your driveway, please contact us. We will not be responsible for pre-existing damage.

8) We will restore your lawn. The workers will be re-placing the same sod they dug up from your lawn, so there is no worry of mismatching turf. There may be some browning of the replaced turf, but it will usually come back in a few weeks. We encourage homeowners to water the areas that were disturbed to encourage regrowth. Near the end of the job, we will come through the neighborhood and create a “punch list” of repairs we need to make.

9) Please do not try to communicate with the workers. Many of them do not speak English and they cannot answer your questions. Please contact Mark Satterly at 502-693-5711 with your questions or concerns. If you have any questions about this project, please feel free to contact Keith Drury, AT&T Project Manager at (615) 975- 3485, email [email protected], or Robert Furlong, Star Construction Supervisor at (502)-504-0221, email [email protected].
